The Function of a Nursing Assistant

Nikiski AK CNA greeting patientCertified Nursing Assistants carry out many tasks in the Nikiski AK hospitals, clinics and other medical organizations where they are employed. As indicated by their title, CNAs are not licensed by the state but instead are certified. Given that they are not licensed, they perform under the guidance and management of either a licensed LPN or RN. And as nursing assistants, their main job role is to help the licensed nurses that they work under. Their duties are many and varied, and in a hospital environment might include:

  • Administering basic care to patients
  • Measuring patient’s vital signs
  • Keeping a record of patient’s health status
  • Cleaning and dressing patients
  • Serving and helping patients with meals
  • Conveying patients to other rooms

CNAs may also practice in Nikiski AK nursing homes or long term care facilities. In those environments, nursing assistants are more involved in aiding patients with their Activities of Daily Living (ADL). ADLs are defined as routine activities that the majority of people accomplish daily without aid, such as eating, dressing, or using the restroom. Nursing assistants typically build more of a bond with these patients since they commonly reside in the facilities for extended time frames. Frequently, they may become the pipeline between the patient and the balance of the medical staff thanks to their familiarity with their charges. As a result, the CNA’s knowledge can be a beneficial resource for preparing the appropriate care and treatment of long term care patients.

Bear in mind that this is the minimal period of instruction required and each state has its specific prerequisites. So it’s essential to make sure that the course you enroll in not only fulfills the federal requirements, but additionally those for the state where you will be practicing. One tip is to get in touch with the health or nursing board for your state to make sure that the education is state certified. Along with the training, each state requires a passing score on a competency test for certification. Depending on the state, there may be other prerequisites as well.

Kultuk had a population of 17, and Titukilsk and Nikishka had a population of 57,[5] all of whom were Tinneh Natives.[6] There apparently were no census reports from 1880 until 1980, when the area was organized as "Nikishka" and made a census-designated place (CDP). The name was altered to "Nikiski" in 1990 and has reported as such on each successive census.
